My Makeup Attitude!!! Recent Mini-Haul

Posted in Haul, Personal, Product Review, makeup with tags , , , , , on October 25, 2008 by Mrs. Raines

Ok, time to take a quick break from my hair rants…I am loving makeup now…The closer I get to age 30, the more I am loving the coverage I get from my makeup bag….So I decided to share the newest things in my makeup bag…Kind of a mini haul…I picked up a few Covergirl eyeshadow quads and a few from Maybeline, I picked up one that mimics Mac Sea/Sky. I also have one with pinks and browns. I got these on sale at Target. (I always check the makeup end caps at Target for deals…) I also finally picked up cream eyeliner from the Loreal HIP collection, I love it!!! I have been going back and forth about HIP duos and finally picked up the “shady” duo. I am unimpressed! The lighter shade has barely any pigment at all, for that price I am much better off getting the lower end shadows. Wet N Wild is super cheap but does the job considering I only really get to experiment with color on the weekends. Selling point for Maybeline: The expertwear quads tell you where each color is supposed to go (lid, crease, browbone, outer eye) so all you have to do is blend! I may try HIP duos again but none of the earthy colors. I am also debating picking up Urban Decay Primer Potion…..To Be Continued…..

Keracare Product Review and mini haul

Posted in African American Hair, Grow Hair, Haul, Product Review, Products, black hair with tags , , , , , on October 18, 2008 by Mrs. Raines

Can somebody say SALE!?! I have been reading a lot online about Keracare products. I first heard of Keracare while watching video tutorials by Macherieamour. I recently heard about Keracare again from Ateya (on Youtube) as well as a few other blogs. Keep in mind I am tight on money so some expensive products  I steer clear of…..That being said, I read on Healthy Textures where people found Keracare at their local JCPenny salon, others mentioned seeing it at the Walmart salons…So I went on a hunt. I figured I would try the products out, worse case scenario would be if I didn’t like them, I could send them to my cousin (she swears by Biosilk but wouldn’t dare turn down free-bees). I went to my local Walmart salon and was disappointed because all they had was the styling gel. I don’t wear gel so there was no chance of me buying it just because it was Keracare. I asked the store clerk and she said that since they would now be carrying Mizani, they would no longer be carrying Keracare. So I assume that means they can only carry one product line geared towards women of color at a time?? LAME….anyway, so I moved on to JCPenny…I was astounded to find a majority of the products that I wanted to try along with the fact that the oil sheen and conditioning creme head dress was only $1.99 (limit 3 per customer). Since I can’t pass up a deal, I grabbed a few products and headed home. My first wash day using the products, I was a little heavy handed and my hair felt gritty and coated. I was unhappy at first but realized I needed to try it again. It was relaxer day the following week and after my relaxer, I followed up with my Keracare products. I was amazed. My hair looked, smelled and felt great. I washed again yesterday and I am getting the hang of it. I am planning to start alternating between this and my s2s. I realized that I am using products to heavy, its become a habit. Using cheaper products like Suave for cowashing forces me to use more to feel like I am getting the full benefit of the product. Keracare has taught me a lot!

Also, just a quick side note: I watched Ateya use chi silk on wet hair before drying. I have added this to my regimen and the shine is unbelievable. I know people say there are a lot of cones in chi and keracare products but I am ok with it…You can’t expect perfection from hair products…

Products Purchased: Keracare Moisturizing Shampoo, Keracare humecto conditioner, Keracare Foam wrap-set lotion, Keracare Oil sheen with Humidity blocker and Keracare conditioning head dress

To buy next: Keracare Silken Seal, Keracare leave in conditioner

October length check!! BSL

Posted in African American Hair, Grow Hair, Hair Pictures, black hair with tags , , , , , on October 4, 2008 by Mrs. Raines

So I did a length check..mind you I have some new growth and I had to stretch but I am finally BSL! I heard recently on another blog that BSL (bra-strap length) is no longer a respectable term because different bras fit differently and some people wear their bras low-slung and some higher than others. The new form of measure is bsb (below shoulder blade) which I fit too….Yay! Anyway, I just thought I would share with anyone who is willing to read this!!! :-)

Also, I am seriously thinking about trimming my ends for a blunt look with this weeks wash and d/c. And I am also leaning towards a fringe or bangs…..Somebody stop me!
